Boarding
Coláiste Íde provides a safe, stimulating and encouraging learning environment that enables our students to develop their academic abilities and individual talents in an idyllic rural setting. The boarding experience offers stimulation and security, promotes independence, life-long friendships and an efficient use of time. We are committed to providing for the education and personal development of our students to enable them pursue their ambitions and take their place in society with confidence as well educated highly qualified, responsible, caring citizens.
Afternoon, Evening and Weekends
All boarding staff operate in “loco-parentis”. Our students are cared for by a team of Supervisors some of whom are past-pupils of Coláiste Íde in the evenings, weekends and overnight. Colaiste Íde provides a comprehensive and varied recreation program on evenings and weekends. Taking part in outings and activities offers the ideal “down time” for students to have some fun and explore various activities and visit areas of the Dingle Peninsula. All students are encouraged to take part in activities. We provide fully supervised study each evening and on weekends. Meals are fully supervised to ensure that all students are eating a balanced and varied diet. Night staff are on duty throughout the night. The College nurse holds clinics each day and is on call thereafter.
Seven day boarding
Seven day boarding allows students to foster friendships, to develop their social skills, increase confidence and gain independence. Boarding offers students the opportunity to study fully supervised throughout the evening ensuring that homework is completed in a timely manner and that revision is carried out. Additional practice time is also allocated for subjects such as piano and other musical instruments, basketball and other sports practice are also held in the evening and are fully supervised. Study times are allocated on Saturday and Sunday mornings and evenings, this is an ideal opportunity to ensure that proper revision takes place on each subject.
The boarding school is usually open two weekends with students returning home on the Friday morning of the 3rd weekend to spend time with family and friends, (please see school calendar for further information on boarders weekends and holidays).
7 day boarding is available to all students.
