Congratulations to our rugby team. Coláiste Íde had a fantastic win in the semi-final for the Junior Cups last week in Limerick. They were playing against St. Joseph’s Borrisoleigh who gave us a wonderful match and we are so grateful to them for their sportsmanship. Everyone played amazingly and all the students in the college were out to give them a hero’s welcome on their return at 18:00. The final score was 51-17. The Final will take place on the 15th March and we are all looking forward to it. Best of luck to them all!
A heartfelt congratulations to Sinéad de Búrca for winning a silver medal in the poetry recitation competition in Oireachtas na Samhna 2022 in Killarney. We are very proud of her! She and Hannah Ní Dhubháin also did a one-on-one interview at the competition. God bless them and for all the practice they had done!
Heartfelt congratulations to Lillian de Cléir, our student in year 5, who came first in the brand new poetry recitation competition, Guth na hÉigse, which was part of the IMRAM festival this year. Lillian won €300 for herself and a €300 voucher for the school library – congratulations Lillian!
Sinéad de Búrca won a silver medal in a haiku writing competition – a short form of poetry that is traditional in Japan – which was part of the IMRAM festival in Dublin in November. Two other students received medals at the same competition – Derville Ní Loinsigh who got 3rd place in the juniors and Emily Ní Mathúna who got 2nd place in the intermediate category.
